Accounting Program Description
The proposed Accounting degree program provides an affordable means for students to complete the first two years of a degree in accounting, which will generate a pipeline of students prepared for transfer. These students serve to address the documented workforce development needs for accountants and auditors. The primary goal of the Associate of Arts (A.A.) in Accounting is to provide a degree, in both face-to-face and online formats, that is designed for students intending to transfer to a baccalaureate program. The program design is in a format that will provide maximum flexibility in choice of electives based on the requirements of the four-year receiving institution.

Upon successful completion of this degree, students will be able to: demonstrate mastery of financial and managerial accounting concepts sufficient for further study in the discipline; demonstrate the ability to organize, process, and report relevant managerial accounting information for use in planning and decision-making; calculate, interpret, and/or analyze key macroeconomic and microeconomic indicators for the U.S. economy; recognize the impact that business laws, rules and regulations have on society, businesses and individuals; and create, design, and deliver effective and well-organized oral and written presentations utilizing state-of-the-art technology.
