Teaching with Areas of Concentrations in Chemistry, English, Mathematics, and Physics Program Description |
The Associate of Arts Degree in Teaching (A.A.T.) at Cecil College is a directed path of study preparing students for transfer and upper division coursework at four-year institutions offering teacher education programs and certification for secondary education. This degree requires students to satisfy the A.A. general education requirements, 32 credits in one of four areas of concentration (Chemistry, English, Mathematics, or Physics), and teacher education professional coursework. For this degree program, Cecil College has chosen to move existing, individual areas of concentration to form one new degree program in teaching. The creation of this new degree with a concentration model will ensure that Cecil has adequate enrollment to run courses for a major.

Students must also achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and a passing score on the Praxis Core Skills for Educators (CORE), a state-required general education exam. In addition, the curriculum for the Secondary Education program includes a requirement for a field experience with a classroom teacher.
|
