Embedded Systems and Internet of Things Program Description
As a society, we are currently within an era of the “Internet of People”: Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Twitter, along with myriad other social networking sites are ubiquitous and omnipresent. These social media platforms have revolutionized how people communicate and interact with each other, and their impact is felt in nearly all facets of human enterprise, including commerce, entertainment, health and politics. Yet despite its current importance, the Internet of People will soon give way to the “Internet of Things”. In a few years, our human senses to “see, hear, touch, smell and taste” and our ability to rearrange our environment will be supplemented with inanimate sensors and actuators that collect information, communicate with one another. These devices will be rigidly managed by a control algorithm that will analyze voluminous data and perform appropriate actions to achieve a mission.
