Music Program Description |
The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Music is designed for students seeking a liberal arts degress in music. The curriculum of this program is designed to assure that students received a solid grounding in the fundamentals of music theory and history, take individual instruction in applied music, and participate in music ensembles appropriate to there area of musical training. The existing program has been reduced by six credits in order to facilitate the student option of completing a minor, including music industry. Students will have more choice to tailor their degree to fit their personal education and future career objectives. The curriculum is being mainstreamed to include a specific course in technology that sutdents will need in the 21st century. Graduates of the program will be able to demonstrate technical mastery in performance, composition, or music technology; demonstrate appropriate cultural contexts with the required tasks in performance, composition or music technology; and demonstrate an advanced knowledge and understanding of music and developing research skills appropriate for examining and writing about music effectively. <br> |
