Ayurveda Wellness Practice (Online) Program Description
Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH) proposes a substantive change to its 12 credit Post-Baccalaureate Certificate (PBC) in Ayurvedic Wellness Practices within its Health Philosophy and Promotion program area. This substantive change proposal requests approval to offer this program fully online effective with the fall, 2018 trimester.

With its focus on integrative health, MUIH plans to offer their established Ayurveda Wellness Practices P.B.C. to engage students in experiential practices and to support a wide range of integrative and conventional health care professionals. Ayurveda, originating in India, serves as the basis of the oldest recorded medical system, with seminal texts dating to the height of the Vedic civilization (circa 2000BC). Many Ayurvedic professionals are also licensed healthcare providers in other fields and they use Ayurvedic principles to complement their primary practice.

The curriculum includes key components of the science of Ayurveda: the incorporation of diet and herbs, the influences of season and climate on physiology, and lifestyle and self-care choices to build a healthy and meaningful life. Students will gain a solid foundation in modern Ayurvedic medicine which incorporates a progressive scientific perspective while maintaining its roots in traditional practices.
