MHEC staff assisted 75
families, whose children were notified they are eligible for the 2019 – 2020
Guaranteed Access (GA) Grant program. Those students attended the Prince
George's County Document Drop-Off event on Thursday, March 14th, the first in a
series of events that took place across the state, throughout the month of
March.
Prince George's
Community College hosted the event, with MHEC staff, counselors, and college
access professionals available to assist students, making sure they were
submitting the required and accurate documentation needed to complete their
application, making them eligible for up to $18,600 annually to attend a
Maryland college or university.
Many students lose the
opportunity to receive State financial aid each year because they fail to submit
all of the required documentation.
To ensure MHEC helps
as many students as possible to submit the proper documents before the
April 1 deadline, a series of Document Drop-Off events have been
planned throughout the month of March and are available to all students
who have been notified that they are potentially eligible for the grant:
