Psychology with Statewide Designation Program Description
The Associate of Arts (A.A.) in Psychology is designed to prepare students for careers in psychology, counseling, or a related field.  The program emphasizes the scientific study of behavioral and mental processes in animals and humans.  The field of psychology encompasses many areas, including research methods, social behavior, personality, human development, biological basis of behavior, consciousness, learning, memory, emotion, motivation and mental health and adjustment.  The program will prepare students to transfer into a baccalaureate degree in this discipline.  Graduates of the program will demonstrate knowledge in learning theory, cognition and memory; sensation and perception, as it relates to psychology; clinical and abnormal psychology and personality theory; social and developmental psychology and the use of basic statistics to test hypotheses and interpret results.
