Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Program Description |
The proposed Biochemistry and Molecular Biology program will have an interdisciplinary focus to accommodate current students enrolled at Washington College that are pursuing a combined Biology and Chemistry track. By creating a standalone Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major, Washington College students will be allowed to complete a more tailored program of study that affords them more flexibility to take advantage of other curricular opportunities at Washington College, like majors or minors outside of the Natural Science and Mathematics division and study abroad. The program will require already-existing courses in biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics. One additional course will be added as a senior capstone experience.

Upon completion, graduates of this major in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, students will be equipped to tackle biochemical problems in a scientific manner using observations, well-thought hypotheses, predictions, and sound experimental design. Additionally, students will be able to read and critically evaluate scientific literature.
|
