Substantial Modification to the Existing American Sign Language Studies Program Description |
The American Sign Language (ASL) Studies certificate is an existing program that is changing to focus specifically on the language portion of American Sign Language (ASL) only. The community, history, and culture related courses are being removed from the program. Additionally, the title will be changed to American Sign Language to better reflect the content of the revised certificate program.

The program is intended for students whose career goals are oriented toward the fields of deaf studies, deaf education, and ASL interpreting. This program emphasizes the language acquisition of ASL signs, linguistics and sentence structure, as well as basic aspects of the deaf community, deaf history, and their culture. |
