Unmanned Aerial Systems Technician Program Description
Hagerstown Community College is seeking approval for a Lower Division Certificate in Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Technician.  The program will prepare students for careers working with unmanned aerial systems, also known as drones. Students will cover the operation, mechanics, data processing, maintenance, and regulations that pertain to unmanned systems. The UAS Certificate will also train students to operate, maintain, and utilize unmanned systems to collect, and then analyze data.  The acquired skillset will enable students to understand how to safely operate an unmanned aerial system, understand Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, read sectional maps, interpret and analyze results from data obtained during flights, understand and use unmanned aerial system components, and troubleshoot when an issue arises.
