New Site Location Program Description
Universidad Ana G. Mendez – Carolina (formerly del Este) has submitted an application to relocate its instructional site, continuing to offer its 12 programs at the new campus located at 100-200 Investa West Tower, One Discovery Place, Silver Spring, MD 20910. Ana G. Mendez, a non-profit university located in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, is registered as a foreign corporation in the State of Maryland. The corporation’s purpose is to promote the development and the cultural, social and economic well-being of society through the expansion and growth of educational opportunities for the benefit of the community segments it serves.&nbsp; Ana G. Mendez is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. <br> <br>Ana G. Mendez University System has been operating in Maryland since 2011-2012 and is under extended approval through August, 31 2021. Any approval resulting from this proposal will extend through August 31, 2024. <br> <br>Program descriptions <br> <br>Previously approved programs <br>Ana G. Mendez Universidad Carolina seeks reauthorization of its 12 previously approved programs to be offered at the new site. There have been no changes to the programs since they were last approved. The institution is seeking authorized to offer the following previously approved programs at the new site:&nbsp; <br> <br>I. Associate of Science in Networking Engineering Technology: The program prepares individuals to become engineering technicians who design, install, test, troubleshoot, repair and modify data communications network systems such as local computer networks, wide area computer networks and industrial device networks within an automated system. <br> <br>II. Associate of Science in Electronic Engineering Technology: The program prepares individuals to become technicians who design, install, test, troubleshoot, repair and modify developmental and production electronic components, equipment and systems such as industrial/computer controls, manufacturing systems, communications systems and power electronics systems. <br> <br>III. Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management: The program is designed to prepare students to perform management functions as related to revenue management, accounting, hospitality sales and marketing and casino operations. <br> <br>IV. Bachelor of Science in Psychology: The program is designed to develop professionally in the scientific study of human behavior. The student will be a bilingual professional with the knowledge and skillset necessary to conduct research on human behavior. <br> <br>V. Bachelor of Science in Health Services Management: The program is designed to prepare students to occupy jobs in the primary on intermediate management levels in the public or private sector. <br> <br>VI. Bachelor of Arts in Prekindergarten/Primary Education: The program is designed to prepare students to become effective bilingual early childhood/primary education teachers who are capable of delivering quality instruction in a variety of settings to diverse student populations for grades PreK-3. <br> <br>VII. Bachelor of Arts in Special Education: The program is designed to prepare students to become effective bilingual special education teachers who are capable of working with children and youth who have a variety of disabilities. <br> <br>VIII. Master of Science in Educational Leadership:&nbsp; The program is designed to prepare future school administrators with the skills and competencies needed to become outstanding bilingual leaders in public education institutions at the K-12 level. <br> <br>IX. Master of Public Administration in Public and Non-Profit Management: The program is designed to prepare students pursuing careers in government, public service and non-profit organizations. <br> <br>X. Master of Education in Bilingual Education: The program is designed to provide the skills knowledge and abilities necessary in the area of bilingual teaching in a culturally diverse environment. <br> <br>XI. Master of Science in Administration of Adult Education: The program is designed to prepare students who are seeking to serve in education as directors/managers, program developers, instructors, advisors and/or researchers. <br> <br>XII. Master of Social Work (M.S.W.): The program prepares students to be dual language, advanced practice professionals in the field of social work. In addition, the program seeks to promote social justice and social change, and to serve as a resource for the community. The program is 54 credits.
