Automotive Technology Program Description |
Central to all academic programs at HCC is their adherence to the college&#39;s mission of &quot;Providing pathways to success.&quot; This Automotive Technology associate of applied science (AAS) degree is designed to prepare students for career entry or career advancement in automotive repair and maintenance with a focus on hybrid and electric vehicles. Vehicle power alternatives and electronics technology are advancing rapidly. More and more, vehicles are comprised of complex systems involving batteries, computers, and sensors. The proposed curriculum emphasizes foundational skills in <br>automotive repair and maintenance including, but not limited to, engines, brakes, steering, and suspension. It also focuses on multiple energy sources and advanced electrical systems. The program incorporates practical, collaborative learning experiences. Students will develop critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills essential to working in a repair and maintenance environment. Students who complete the degree will have access to employment as an electric and hybrid vehicle service technician, battery service technician, electrical test technician, first line supervisor, installer/repairer, and parts manager. |
