Creative Media Production Program Description |
The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Media Production will draw from existing courses offered by the Animation & Media Arts department, as well as providing new courses with a transdisciplinary focus. The transdisciplinary focus distinguishes it from other majors and minors in the Animation & Media Arts department. The current majors and minors are Animation (major/minor), Photography (major/minor), Interactive Art
(major/minor, with an affiliated Sound Art minor), Film & Video (minor) and Game Design (minor). This degree plan will also allow students to attain co-majors (see Appendix 3) in the
programs of the department currently established as minors, specifically Film & Video, Game Design and Sound Art. All courses will provide the conceptual foundation and philosophical underpinnings essential to the media arts in combination with an education about technique and toolsets. A Creative Media Production Co-Major allows the student to participate in core and then take a Film & Video, Game Design or Sound Art co-major “track” — this is a specialized, discipline-specific curriculum. The core is a shared curriculum for all the co-majors, and then the “Track” provides the rigor of that more specialized design discipline’s requirements and allows the campus to elevate the profile of these tracks in a more meaningful way then the minor affords in the marketplace.
The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Media Production aims to serve students who wish to attain comprehensive technical and conceptual skills across the field of media production, emphasizing professional practice and career preparedness. Students graduating from this program will find work in production and post-production fields, including filmmaking, event and experience production, game design, visual effects,
audio engineering and sound design, editing and the fine arts. |
