Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Program Description |
The B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology will include the following: <br>The educational objectives and learning outcomes are fully aligned with the ASBMBaccreditation standards. Upon completing this program, students will: <br>• Gain a broad foundation in the fundamental principles across multiple STEM disciplines. <br>• Develop an integrated understanding of how energy is generated, stored, and regulated within biochemical and biological systems. <br>• Be able to connect key biochemical structures to their respective functions. <br>• Understand how genetic information is stored, read, translated, and manipulated within biological systems. <br>• Apply quantitative reasoning, calculations, and mathematical modeling to biochemical and biological systems effectively. <br>• Comprehend and articulate molecular-level concepts of evolution. <br>• Identify and explain the roles of molecular and biochemical regulation in maintaining homeostasis. <br>• Acquire substantial hands-on experimental experience, including designing experiments, conducting research, and interpreting results. <br>• Recognize and adhere to the professional code of conduct for scientists, with the ability to identify and address ethical issues. <br>• Demonstrate professional communication skills, including experience in written and oral presentations, as well as in writing personal statements and resumes |
