University of Maryland Eastern Shore

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) is the 1890 Land-Grant institution for the State. As such, it maintains a legacy of a historically black institution that offers equal education opportunity to all students. Degree programs are offered in liberal arts and sciences, agriculture, business, aviation technology, education, environmental and marine science, allied health, and hospitality. The University offers programs leading to the BA and BS degrees in 31 disciplines in the arts and sciences, professional studies, and agricultural sciences. In addition, UMES offers 16 teaching degree programs, 8 pre-professional programs, and an honors program designed in cooperation with the University of Maryland, Baltimore and the University of Maryland, College Park, College of Veterinary Medicine to prepare students for professional studies. UMES also offers graduate degrees in agricultural and extension education, education, applied computer science, food and agricultural sciences, guidance and counseling, rehabilitation counseling, career and technology education, criminology and criminal justice, special education, marine-estuarine and environmental sciences, and toxicology. Marine-estuarine and environmental sciences, toxicology, food science and technology, organizational leadership and educational leadership are offered at MS, EdD and PhD levels; and physical therapy offers DPT.
