St. Mary's Seminary and University
St. Mary's Seminary & University is America's first Roman Catholic seminary, founded in 1791. While it continues to train new generations of priests through its comprehensive academic and formation program, it has also steadily expanded its role as a national theological center. Forty years ago, St. Mary's increased its university dimension by establishing the Ecumenical Institute of Theology. Since then, men and women of all faith traditions have engaged in theological and religious study. Over the years, the Ecumenical Institute has made substantial contributions to interfaith dialogue and harmony. In 1996, St. Mary's opened the Center for Continuing Formation. The Center regularly brings religious, corporate and community leaders together for the exploration of contemporary issues that shape church, community and society.
