Baltimore,
MD (April 30, 2018) The Maryland Higher Education Commission announced it has released a
Request For Proposals (RFP) for the Maryland
GEAR UP Leadership Development Program.
The GEAR UP Leadership Development Program supports
Maryland’s GEAR UP goals and objectives to increase the number of economically
disadvantaged students who intend to
pursue postsecondary education. The grant period is from June 15, 2018 – August 15, 2019.
The
RFP is open to all accredited Maryland public or not for profit independent
two-year or four-year Institutions of Higher Education (IHE) that partner with
Local Education Agencies (LEA) to select the required funded activities, and
include a completed and signed Cooperative Agreement by the submission deadline.
Funded
activities are intended to provide summer enrichment, skill-building, and
inclusive programming to secondary GEAR UP students, while educating students
and their families about the advantage of postsecondary education and college
financing options. Examples of fundable activities include but are not limited
to:
- Application
Workshops;
- Counseling,
Advising, and Career Counseling;
- Comprehensive
Mentoring;
- Self-Discovery/Career
Exploration Workshops;
- Project
Leadership and Management;
- Ideation,
Innovation, and Brainstorming Sessions;
- Communication
Effectiveness Workshops;
- Cross-Cultural
Leadership and Diversity Workshops.
Service Regions include Baltimore City,
Dorchester County and Wicomico County. Up to
$45,000 may be requested by the institution in their proposal.
The
proposal due date for both electronic and hard copies is Monday, May 7, 2018 at
4:00 p.m.
