Commissioner Charles McDaniels

Commissioner McDaniels is President of Mica Metal Solutions, LLC, a metallurgical service consulting firm. He has worked in the field of steel processing and technical evaluation for over 40 years.

Mr. McDaniels has a passion for enhancing the educational opportunities for Maryland students. He served on the Baltimore County Board of Education for six years, including a term as Board Chair. Chuck was selected as President of the Maryland Association of Boards of Education from 2017-2018. His particular interest is encouraging non-traditional students to pursue studies and careers in STEM-related disciplines. Commissioner McDaniels received a BS in Metallurgy and Materials Science and Economics from Carnegie-Mellon University and an MBA from Loyola Colllege (now University) in Baltimore.
